Fuji Apple Trees

Image
Adel and I planted 2 Fuji apple trees in the backyard today. we've got Pomegranate tree, watermelon and collard greens growing. The Orcan guy came out to look at the barn. He said the long holes in the barn were NOT termites, but carpenter bees. Well he said the woodpeckers come and dig out the carpenter bees larva from the wood. I should fact check that. He quoted us $750 to treat the whole house + barn. Adel missed school today. Yesterday I met Johnies new girlfriend. She seems pretty chilled back. We put this old basketball goal together and played 21 in the street. I went for a run yesterday too. I need to finish the exit Ethics exam that I just found out about and get my official teaching certification.

Adel's Music Recital and Art Show

Image
I picked up randi and we went to QT to grab some breakfast before going to Adels's Music recital. Adel was wearing a little fish around her neck and all the 1st graders are singing songs about the Ocean. It was really cool. Adel was in the back row. And I remember feeling agitated that she was in the back. I believe the kids were organized on stage by class (Ms. Bishops class in the back). They were not organized by height. Randi said maybe Adel is having trouble following the dance because she could not see the music instructor. thinking about it now is making me a little irrupted again. But all is well her Art was on the wall outside her classroom. It seemed to really stand out from her classmates art. But I bet every parent thinks that about their childs art. Every parent wants there child to stand out in a good way. Ms.Bishop did not say much to Randi and I. I remember thinking I bet she is really tired. Teaching is stressful. Adel's birthday is in 12 days. I know I wa...

Petty Johns Cave-Bill the neighboor

I saw Bill outside working in the garden. I walked over and he was fertilizing his tomatoes. He like to talk. I like talking to him. He's done a lot of cool stuff. He replaced his roof on his house, says he saved like $1,500.00 He mentioned that some standard roof pipe things will leak water. He replaced his with ones that water cannot get into. He also used carbon fiber to fix his house foundation. He told me about some caves in North GA called Petty Johns Cave and some other cave systems West of Aragon GA. He says one would not find these caves on a map-. He says Petty Johns cave can be dangerous- the cave floods when a storm comes in and if you are in the cave during a heavy rain you will die. He said China is going to own the International space station or something like that. I told him about Providence and showed him a picture. I also told him I was planning to goto Cumberland island and he asked me if I was going to do any swimming maybe body surfing..He suggested I bring BU...

Providence Canyon

Image
Ryan and I went to Providence Canyon. I knew nothing about the place. We were blown away. We grabbed a map from the abandoned interpretive center. The map proved to be pretty confusing. The trail was blazed well with red paint on the loblolly pines. We hiked the 7 mile loop. We found the canyon floor trails after an exhausting canyon rim hike. The canyon floor trails were not marked on the map. Karina raised a good question about the site. "What message are people taking away from the site when they leave?" Im fascinated with Providence and the mythology that surrounds the place. How should we look at Providence? A cautionary tale or a beautiful state park? Maybe Both. Bill would say Both because he's really into seeing everything as a duality. AndI think I tend to look at the world now through the lens of Bill's duality philosophy.  Julie said maybe Providence is like a poem. It depends on who is looking at it and the meaning of the place is defined by the person l...
